Mission

The Rainbow Coalition of Waterloo Region connects and empowers 2SLGBTQIA+ communities by nurturing relationships, uplifting grassroots leadership, and fostering inclusive spaces across the region. We work alongside others to build a future where all queer, trans, and non-binary people are safe, visible, and free.

Working together (with and in community) to connect and amplify the voices of thriving 2SLGBTQIA+ communities across Waterloo Region.

Values

The following values guide RCWR’s work and encompass the principles of decolonization, diversity, equity, and inclusion in our partnerships, priorities, and community engagement.

• Reciprocity: We build relationships that are rooted in deep trust and shared purpose, not transactional exchanges. We strive to work collaboratively and in solidarity with others, ensuring that our partnerships reflect mutual care, accountability, and a commitment to collective growth.
• Belonging: We support the creation of physical and digital spaces where queer, trans, and non-binary people feel seen, respected, and valued.
• Collective Care: We recognize care as a shared responsibility and practice it through how we lead, support each other, and respond to harm with compassion and accountability.
• Sustainability: We prioritize the long-term well being of our organization and our community by making intentional, capacity-aware decisions. Regional Connection: We are committed to serving and reflecting all parts of Waterloo Region – urban, rural, and in-between – ensuring that 2SLGBTQIA+ communities are supported wherever they are.
• Empowerment: We centre and uplift grassroots leadership by supporting queer and trans communities to lead, build, and organize on their own terms.
